Gardendale Park Day 12:00 - whenever???? Come join us at Gardendale Celebration Park located at 2191 Fieldstown Road at the corner of Fieldstown Road and Jew Hollow Road. For more information on the park, please look here: Celebration Park . This is a beautiful and well-maintained park with plenty of room to play, picnic tables, covered pavilions, and new bathroom facilities. Make sure that your kids wear a bathing suit, bring a towel, and slather on some sunscreen so that they can play, play, play in the awesome splash pad area! There is also a large soccer field where the kids can play football, Frisbee, etc. Make sure to bring jump ropes, hula hoops, board games, bubbles etc. Let's have a great time!

Calling all homeschoolers: This park day is open to all homeschoolers regardless of cover school.

Calling all new homeschoolers: Park day is an awesome time to come and meet veteran homeschoolers, ask questions, share tips, and just generally talk shop!

Calling all teens: This park day always has a good diversity of ages including TEENS! So please do bring your teens to hang out and have a good time as well! I know sometimes that the teens are hesitant to come thinking there won't be any other teens there..., but this park day does have teens that come!

I hope to see all you awesome homeschoolers there,
Deb Spradlin

Is anyone else going to "Rock The City" in Huntsville? Mercy Me, Group 1 Crew, and Mikeschair.

I have not had the chance to meet any of my home school friends yet but would love to say "Hi" if you were going to be there.

Don't Get Me Started

I love homeschooling my daughter. She was in PS for 2 years, K-1st and she was bored silly.
She was in a Talented and Gifted Program once a week for 30 minutes. She finished her work in
10 minutes and spent the rest of the time helping her classmates with theirs.

There are no boundaries when you HomeSchool, no one to tell you that you can't do
something. Anything is possible. I hear people all the time in PS complaining
about different issues; I NEVER hear any of my HSing friends complain. They… Continue

Turkey Creek Preserve

Wow! What a wonderful, natural, peaceful place. I am so happy with myself that we made the drive (1.5 hr.) from Huntsville to come today. Not only was the Preserve beautiful and a ton of fun, it was great to catch up with folks I know and to meet a few new folks. There are fewer and fewer special spots like Turkey Creek so it feels especially good to have the opportunity to let my girls "wild swim". We will definitely go back. And, we want more.

This awesome day started out with a beautiful canoe trip down Clear Creek at 6:30 a.m. Yes, my friends, 6:30 a.m. Now to just get down to where the canoes are is an adventure. It is about a 1/2 mile hike straight down... You all know what a morning person I am...NOT! It was… Continue

The Love Dare

Here is what the official site says: The Love Dare, as featured in the new movie Fireproof, is a 40-day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love. Whether your marriage is hanging by a thread or healthy and strong, The Love Dare is a journey you need to take. Here is what I have to say: I really enjoyed the movie and have been wanting to take "The Love Dare", but I keep procrastinating. I thought if we could take it together and post (or not) about our results, then maybe we could encourage one another. How about it? Want to take "The Love Dare" with me? I found my copy of The Love Dare at the library, but you can purchase it at Wal-Mart, Christian book stores, and probably just about anywhere else. I will post a short version of each day's dare, and you can post your thoughts under the appropriate dare. fireproofbanner

Homeschool Freecycle

Hi Guys! You can post offers and wants of any "family-friendly" items here. Please put in the heading "WANTED" or "OFFER" with the item along with the general area you are located. All "gifting" is between the two parties involved, and any discrepancy must be worked out in PRIVATE between those two parties. Some things you might post are: Hand-me-down clothing toys furniture musical instruments books curriculum pets ...or anything else that might help another family out and help you declutter a little. Enjoy! Deb Spradlin
