Ice Skating Fun!!

Okay last Saturday I went ice skating with my church's youth group I had a ball. I thought it would be so easy skating because most people say that it is just like roller blading and let me tell you IT IS NOTHING LIKE IT. It's much harder to ice skate then roller blade. My brother Nate didn't like it to much because he didn't even get his second skate on the ice and he was on his back. He didn't get hurt so it was kind of funny. I didn't fall until I tried to skate away from the wall and I fell… Continue

Homeschooler in college

That's what I have. My daugther Destin is going to UAB on a four year scholarship.

She is also in a new honors program called Experiential Learning. She says it's largely self directed but with a different oversight. Instead of a parent and a cover school you have professors, advisers and committees.

Now I hated college. Happily she loves it. She got three A's and three B's her first semester. This semester looks a lot busier. I mean it seems like they have exponentially made it more difficult… Continue

Update on us

Wow alot has gone on since I last came on here. I ended up putting Katie in public school due to alot of health problems I was having thinking it would be easier on me. Ha that was funny, we didn't last. I was going all the time, Volunteering at the school, driving her back and forth and then the homework for a little girl, unbelievable. Anyway, after a week long stay in the hospital and having trouble with help for her while I was there, I ended up pulling her back out and we are back on track.… Continue

Calling All Homeschoolers!!!

New & Improved!!!
Everest Academy
Outdoor Adventure Club

sponsored by

Fresh Air Family now has coordinators in North Alabama, Central Alabama, and South Alabama which will enable Everest Academy to have North Alabama, Central Alabama, and South Alabama Clubs.

  • Who:  All homeschoolers welcome!

  • What:  Awesome outdoor group that goes on monthly outdoor adventures including a comprehensive natural science program which will be guided by expert naturalists and college professors.  You will enjoy unique places in Alabama, some of which are not open to the public.  These outdoor adventures would cost you upwards of $1,200 per year if you were to plan these on your own.

  • Where: Different outdoor locations throughout the state of Alabama.

  • Fee: $25.00 per family for the WHOLE year - even if you are only able to attend one event, it would be well worth it to join. This fee will cover most of the events. Canoeing or camping trip may require an additional fee.

  • When:  Most events will be held on Thursdays.
